The Variations of Outgoing Longwave Radiation in East Asia and Its Influencing Factors

چکیده
Outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data are one of the key factors in studying balance earth–atmosphere system East Asia. It is great significance to explore influence on OLR. This paper processes nearly 19 years, from September 2002 February 2022, and conducts in-depth research using exponential smoothing method, empirical orthogonal decomposition (EOF), correlation analysis, other methods. We found that spatial distribution OLR zonal symmetry gradually decreases with increase latitude. Using EOF it total variance contribution first four decomposed features exceeds 70%, overall change trend four-time coefficients past years all show a downward trend. positively correlated column water vapor (TCWV), air temperature (AT), cloud top (CTT), but negatively pressure (CTP). has similar TCWV AT, while between CTP opposite two parameters. In most parts Asia, CTT 0.8. The value affected by various meteorological positive 30° N 60° significantly TCWV, CTT; negative more CTP. At 0–25° N, CTT, AT.

Several current problems in atmospheric radiation over the tropical oceans may have at least partial solutions as effects of diurnal variations of outgoing longwave radiation (OLR). At issue are explanations for the following: a) excessively large amplitudes (in relation to theory) of the diurnal thermal tides over the tropical oceans (Braswell and Lindzen 1998); b) reported observations of exc...

to upper troposphere. The compensating effects in LW and SW radiation are largely linked to variations in cloud fraction and water content (vapor, liquid and ice). These radiative balances in reanalyses are in agreement with idealized calculations using a column radiative transfer model. The overall relationships between OLR and diabatic heating are robust among the different reanalyses, althou...
متن کاملObserved and simulated seasonal co-variations of outgoing longwave radiation spectrum and surface temperature
[1] We analyze the seasonal variations of Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) accompanying the variations in sea surface temperature (SST) from satellite observations and model simulations, focusing on the tropical oceans where the two quantities are strikingly anti-correlated. A spectral perspective of this ‘‘super-greenhouse effect’’ is provided, which demonstrates the roles of water vapor line...
متن کاملThe Walker circulation, diabatic heating, and outgoing longwave radiation
For the tropical atmosphere on planetary scales, it is common to model the circulation using strong damping. Here, with new data analysis techniques, evidence suggests that damping can actually be neglected. Specifically, near the equator, the east–west overturning circulation is in agreement with the undamped wave response to atmospheric heating. To estimate the heating, satellite observations...
